  • After many years of publishing our photographic works, we thought it was time to show you some glimpses of something different. Some of the following pictures represent tests of various kinds for Mourning the Ancient, some reflect our boredom, others are just everyday life, and others still are that grey area somewhere between Mourning the Ancient and mundane existence. Enjoy the tour of these distant and not-so-distant days...

[Below: This is a 1990s German firefighter Stahlhelm made of a composite. It glows brightly in the dark due to phosphorescent paint. Strange that this helmet design, which influenced modern helmet designs, was still in use in the 1990s. Anyway, this picture was taken for a friend after a conversation about Stahlhelms.]

[Below: I made this chainmail link by aching link! This is me showing it off for the camera. It was very time consuming, but so neat seeing it come together.]

[Below: Nearly a decade ago we interviewed a superb Peruvian band called Psicorragia. Back then we would send a Mourning the Ancient shirt to the person we interviewed as a "thanks" for their time and effort. Psicorragia was no exception. Nearly a decade passed and I hadn't heard anything from the band. Then one day the person who I had sent the shirt to contacted me and told me they finally had band shirts made, he remembered that I had sent him the MTA shirt and he wanted to pay me back. Pretty cool huh? And I got to hear their new CD, which I loved and reviewed, by the way. Anyway, that's the story behind these pics. Greetings Mario and Psicorragia!]

[Below: Brushing up on my ninja skills! hehe]

[Below: This crossbow is pretty weak, therefore I'll have to intimidate you with my animal ferociousness!]

[Below: Now this could hurt! Blowguns are extremely easy to learn and very accurate. Do you know that people have breathed in the darts when placing their lips on the blowgun, sucking in air to blow out the dart, and...?! Sounds horrid, eh? But don't worry, I'm a professional.]

    [Below: *CHOKE*]

[Below: The wild hunters stop for a rest. We bagged some tree bark and a few balls!]

[Below: A bit camera shy I'd say. I'm making a choker for a photo shoot.]

[Below: All done. I forget which shoot we used this on.]

[Below: Puppies, popsicles, and I Hate U! Very black metal]

    - November 25, 2013 -

[Below: These pictures were taken while I was working on a shirt of chainmail. I worked on it periodically for a about a year. I finally finished it and used it in a photo shoot. It was so very tedious and time-consuming. But it could also be relaxing once you got in the groove of connecting the links... over... and over... and over... ugh.]

[Below: My partner always looking for ways to help. You know those industrious Germans!]

[Below: But he can be pretty bossy at times...]

[Below: Not to mention a camera hog, always stealing my thunder :) ]

[Below: I was feeling a bit competitive with a recent Trash and Treasure post - HERE -(toward the bottom). So here's some oh so evil, terrible, scary Nazi pictures from 2012!
I did these in the spirit of fun, and since you can find photos of girls wearing their men's uniforms from all branches of the military from WWII Germany, I don't think they would mind.
(by the way, the uniform isn't real, but the evil Nazi girl and the genocidal German Shepherd are!) Grrrrrrr...]

    - February 24, 2017 -

[Below: It's my comrade's birthday! He's a six year old German Shepherd. It seems like just yesterday that he was an adorable, ornery little puppy. He was so cute he looked like a little bear. He had an OBSESSION with biting me though! Those sharp little puppy teeth... I had cuts and gouges all over me! Lucky he grew out of that one! hehe... This year his chin has turned white, it's so sad. They age so fast... it's so unfair.
