In this Dream

In this dream, I watch the fires burn, into the twilight
An old soldier, in this oppressive night

A tired soul, reaching toward an antique light
Squirming in my skin, struggling to fight

Eyes folded in adulation, in this longing of mine
The frenzied fire inside, the men against time

In this dream, flat hands raised to an intrusive sky
If we cannot live this way, then together we shall die

Flint to the steel, hammer to the nail
Victory or defeat, through our fight, we cannot fail

Earth through the cosmos, in danger and death
The blood-drenched new age, the human race holds its breath

In this dream, we shall never wish to wake
We pray to a god, leave us our guns, our souls you may take.
